Station Situation

Lobden Wendy station is at the premises of Lobden Golf Club, on the moors near Whitworth, Rochdale. OS Grid reference:  SD 891 169.   
 The local hills are used by members of the Airborne club, and Tony Delaney's Airborne Paragliding school.

Interpreting Readings

Winds in this location are often lower than other flying sites, such as Nont Sarahs and Parlick, as they are quite a bit higher, and have clearer air around them, leading to higher wind speeds than at Lobden. This makes Lobden flyable when other sites are blown out.

Pilot Notes

The site is ideal for low-airtime pilots to gain experience. Easy slopes, takeoffs, and large bottom landingds.
