Station situation
Wether Fell Wendy station is on Yorburgh, a hill above and to the south of Burtersett village, near Hawes, in Wensleydale. The Wether Fell flying site is about a mile to the West, used by Hang Gliders, and Paragliders, who belong to the Dales Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club who should be contacted before flying a Hang or Paraglider in the area. The area is also popular with walkers.
The actual site at Wether Fell takes winds primarily from WNW and NW, but we have no precise information. The Wendy station is not in an ideal location, being a little lower down, but it is the nearest place we could obtain a site nearby.
For detailed location, see the linked map.

Interpreting Readings
The station is on a North-facing escarpment edge, and thus is in the Venturi effect in Northerly winds, and will therefore over-read the true winds in that direction band (NNW-N-NNE). However, the winds seem to compare well with those on the actual flying site itself.
In all other directions, there is flat ground around the station, so in East through South to West winds, the station will read the true windspeed. The anemometer is approx 25 feet above ground level more...
Pilot Notes
There is a display screen showing the reading in the premises of Northern Paragliding, at Burtersett, who are extremely helpful.
